Bio
New England Christian Pop Punk
"Sheep can be punks, and they need a good shepherd."
We Like Wool began playing their pastoral sheep-themed pop punk songs around the Manchester, NH area in 2024. The band’s warm melodies, catchy hooks and tongue-in-cheek motifs are delivered in the tried and true pop punk style of the late 90's and early 2000's. The band’s name comes from the biblical prophecy found in Isaiah 1:18 that says that when God forgives His people of their sins, they will be made clean and white like wool. Their songs are reflections on the Christian life in the modern day, and from time to time reference the copious Biblical use of the sheep as a metaphoric bridge for understanding God and His plan of salvation for people through Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd. Each song is written with intentionality in a way that even those who have never heard the style can enjoy, while still having enough raw punk rock power to satisfy the purist.
The band came together when songwriter and guitarist Jared Denaro connected with drummer George Tack and bassist Ben Crowninshield and pitched the idea of a Christian sheep-themed pop punk band with a redemptive ministry focus. The band members had previously collaborated through 603 Worship, a local Christian worship songwriting collective in New Hampshire, and agreed to be a part of the project. George brought an intuitive and relentless drumming style to the band, along with an extensive knowledge of popular music. Ben also blessed the band with his classical music training and experience, as well as a passion to see lives changed by the gospel.
Follow We Like Wool on social media as we prepare to release our first full length album! We hope to see you at a local show sometime soon!
Jared Denaro - Electric Guitar
Jared started We Like Wool as an outlet for songwriting that was fun, different, and redemptive. He has fond memories of growing up and aggressive inline skating to artists like MxPx, Ace Troubleshooter, Relient K, Slick Shoes, Dogwood, and other Christian punk bands during the late 90's into the early 2000's. He started playing electric guitar at age 12 and was determined to lead his church youth group in worship. However, he only knew how to play songs in the punk rock style, and so all the early attempts at leading worship were full of distorted, palm muted riffs. Decades of performance and ministry service have helped shape and mold his abilities. He now serves as the pastor and worship leader at Calvary Chapel in Manchester NH and is a contributing member of 603 Worship, a local worship songwriting collective in New Hampshire. Jared has a heart to see people come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior, and his life goal is to produce, promote and present media, the arts and culture from a biblical foundation, perspective and worldview.
George Tack - Drummer
Hey there! I’m George Tack, a drummer with a passion for music that’s been beating strong for over 22 years. Music isn’t just a hobby for me; it’s a way of life. Whether I’m laying down a funky groove, pounding along with a heavy riff, or getting lost in the soothing rhythms of worship music, I’m all in.
I’ve dabbled in just about every genre you can think of - jazz, rock, pop, country - you name it! Each style brings its own energy, and I love the challenge of switching gears and adapting my sound to fit whatever the moment calls for. There’s just something about bringing people together through music that I truly enjoy.
Worship is a huge part of my life, and I find such joy in using my talents to glorify God while uplifting and inspiring others. Jesus is worthy of all praise, and all that He has done to save us through his death on the cross and resurrection to life fills my heart with gratitude and purpose.
When I’m not behind the kit, you can probably find me jamming with friends, exploring new music, or hanging out with my family. I believe that every note played is a chance to connect, to express, and to worship our Creator.
